The FX anthology series the American Horror Story is moving its production set back to Los Angeles from Louisiana. This marks a welcome boost to the city since it has seen a significant drop in the quantity of TV dramas filming in the vicinity.

Ryan Murphy’s hit horror anthology series is anticipated to commence filming its fifth season entitled, “Hotel” early this July, according to Film L.A. Inc. This is the nonprofit group that manages film permits for the city and the county.

American Horror Story has previously filmed the first two seasons of its series in Los Angeles but had moved its set to Louisiana after it was unsuccessful in attaining a film tax credit through the state’s controversial film lottery program.

A representative for FX would not provide any comment on the reason why the series is moving back its production set back to Los Angeles.

However, a source close to American Horror Story said it was because of artistic and creative elements and not financial factors that had driven the assessment to shift the shooting of the series from Louisiana and back to Los Angeles.

“Coven” was set in New Orleans, while “Freak Show” was produced in Florida but also filmed in Louisiana, where it was much easier to copy the Florida venues than in Southern California. “Hotel” also has a story association to Los Angeles.

The transfer also could be timed to advantage from California’s freshly broadened film tax credit program, which eradicates the lottery system.

To generate more income and maintain more shows in Southern California, the state legislature last year consented to triple annual funding and permit more projects to make the grade for incentives.

The program also sets up a separate pool of inducement money of $27.6 million. That is quite a luring amount for  an incentive. This is presented for returning series like “American Horror Story,” which is anticipated to be along with the applicants.

The said program will be kicking off next week when the California Film Commission will be accepting applications for non-independent TV productions.

“Hotel,” which includes the stars  Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bentley and Matt Bomer, along with others, will air on FX this October. It has already been announced back then that series regular, Jessica Lange will no longer take part in the anthology series. She has made her announcement about her exit on the show during the PaleyFest panel interview earlier this year. Sad as that may be, the casting of the show still proves to be a strong one. The American Horror Story is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.  The fifth season will comprise of 13 episodes. Wherever American Horror Story will opt to film the series, fans are surely excited about the fifth season of the show and are looking forward to its premiere this October. Details about the fifth season have been teased but its storyline has still not been disclosed.

FX also produces the new drama “American Crime Story” in Los Angeles.
