Within little time after the official confirmation of him and husband, David Burtka, entering the show, the filming was done and Harris even shared the after effect with fans.

To begin, Harris and Burtka have had their names attached to the show since before the inception of AHS. Harris allegedly refused to be a part of the first season and here’s what he stated, “We were asked to be in Season One of this great new show called American Horror Story. And the idea was that we would be a gay couple, that, as it turns out, were murdered in this house and then theirghosts are around. american-horror-story-freak-showIt seemed cool. Loved Ryan [Murphy], loved the idea of a horror anthology show. Knew nothing about it, but we had just played ourselves as a couple, not getting along, and I thought, it just seems weird to do that twice, like as individual actors, to play a couple that hates each other twice. It just felt weird. So I said no, that we shouldn’t do it. And David wanted to. I said, ‘I just don’t want people to know us as the couple that don’t like each other. That seems weird.’ And then wouldn’t you know, American Horror Story is a big success and super awesome.”

Of course we know the show’s creator Ryan Murphy took it pretty well and for the fourth season of the show he planned a role for Harris and just a couple of weeks ago Murphy spoke about getting Harris on the show and said, “If I can make it work, it will be something that shoots at the end. He’s very interested in the show and obviously Neil is a magician and likes all that magic stuff. So he’s fascinated with that. We’re trying to make it work. I’m optimistic.” After the discussions and some trial and error, as we can understand, the two could make ends meet and the audiences will have the privilege of enjoin Neil Patrick Harris as a “chameleon salesman” on the last two episodes of the season. To add to the good news, his husband, David Burkta will be seen on the show too and apparently have “a sexy storyline” with Elsa Mars, played by Jessica Lange.

Amidst all the great occurrences, the reaction of Neil Patrick Harris after the end of the filming might not be considered too perfect. zxnckjzxchAfter he was done, the actor twitted, ‘Just finished filming my last scene for American Horror Story. I need to take a shower. Wash off all this horror.’ In his Twitter chat with fans, Harris mentioned, “I just did American Horror Story: Freak Show which was super fun to do but I was like the new kid at school. I arrived having done a lot of things in my life but arrived not knowing the crew and not knowing these actors who I love.” The actor was apparently intimidated by Jessica Lange’s presence which got him “super nervous” as the Harris humbly admits, “[I keep] forgetting my lines and overthinking it. So while it was fun to do creatively, I kind of never wanted to act again while it was happening.” Wooh! That is not a good news for us. Harris, however, had no intention of blaming the scripts or plot; he reflects his fondness of the show and mentions, “Not because the content was bad. Acting is hard – you have to become another person and through that, you become insecure as that person with people that all seem to know each other.” The actor further mentioned, “I arrived having done a lot of things in my life but arrived not knowing the crew and not knowing these actors who I love.” We simply hope the actor is glad once the episodes air he figures out what a perfect fit he was for the role in Freak Show.
