Orlando Jones’ Smooth Ride From Period Drama To Stand-Up Comedy
Sleepy Hollow is prepping for its upcoming Season 02 which is set to premier on September 22. Unlike, its predecessor, which was just a 13-episode lone season, the new season comes with a 18 episodes long drama. The show is doing exceedingly well with its viewers and one of the shoulders it is standing on is that of Orlando Jones, playing Frank Irving on Sleepy Hollow. He is one of the series regulars, alongside, Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, Nicole Beharie as Abbie Mills, Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills, Katia Winter as Katrina Crane and John Noble as Henry Parish/Jeremy Crane. The modern day period drama depicts the renowned Washington Irving tale and still manages to bring in diversity. However, the first season ended with massive cliffhangers which included, Ichabod getting licked in a pine box, Abbie getting stuck in purgatory, Katrina, getting taken away by the headless horseman, Jenny getting into a devastating car accident and Irving getting taken into captivity. As much as Orlando Jones wants his character to escape the murder accusations, he isn’t ready to reveal too much about what is actually to happen. Although, he is keen to discuss his new venture into the much less serious and light hearted activity. He spoke about his new project in an interview with WECT, which we are here to discuss today.
The brilliant Sleepy Hollow talent is now taking a road towards comedy. Orlando Jones who already belongs to the comedy genre, has taken the initiative to create a stand-up comedy event which will also consist of Alex Scott and Reid Clark, who is a local comedian. While talking about how he discovered Clark, Orlando Jones says, “”I’m an internet junkie so I am always trolling around. Somebody here told me about this kid who was really funny. And there’s a few sketch comedy groups that I’ve seen and I thought he was hilarious.” Orlando goes on to describe his origin and says, “I vividly remember performing and trying stuff out and being this kid in South Carolina and trying to get to the big time, I guess, so for me I have a real connection with that.” We know from the interviews videos that Orlando loves to crack a few lighgt hearted jokes and we enjoy it immensely. Orlando shares his love for comedy by saying, “My intention is to always tell a story and to make somebody laugh and to entertain and to communicate something cool about the human spirit.” The actor mentioned that on July 12, there will be two shows at TheatreNOW from 7.00p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
Moving on to Sleepy Hollow Season 02, Orlando Jones says, “You can expect it to be crazier than it was last season.” It will get more dangerous as it goes, he says. He also states that, “We are trying our best to save this town and this world, but these horseman…and the new one’s got a head so there’s a whole ‘nother set of problems,” he said. “It was one thing to be dealing with a headless horseman, but now this dude can see. This guy is going to be a real problem. He has two eyes. It’s going to be a problem.”
